For more than half of a century, fraternities have been an essential part of student life at Northern Illinois University for countless men. From every walk of life, these men have sought camaraderie, scholarship and development through franternal bonds. Each chapter at NIU is unique in its offerings, membership, goals and history. Some are large and storied, some are small and young, some focus on religion, some are dedicated to academics, while others have focuses on athletics, and no matter what the focus all of NIU’s fraternities are united under the common vision of the Interfraternal Council.
Comprised entirely of students, the Interfraternal Council oversees fraternal operations and directives involving rush, social policies, philanthropies, risk management, charitable works and many other activities.
